CalTrans Plans Road Closures

POSTED: 4:21 pm PST November 19, 2008
UPDATED: 5:03 pm PST November 20, 2008

Two major thoroughfares will close Thursday night, according to the state Department of Transportation, CalTrans.

Southbound State Route 163 at Interstate 15 will be closed Thursday night beginning at 10 p.m. and will reopen at approximately 5 a.m. Friday morning, according to CalTrans.

This closure is needed to allow construction crews to pave asphalt and concrete on the road surface. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the closure. Motorists traveling on southbound SR-163 at I-15 will be detoured via westbound State Route 52 to southbound State Route 805 onto southbound SR-163.

The south segment of the I-15 Express Lanes began construction last March and will be completed at the end of 2012. Caltrans said it will make every effort to minimize disruption to the public during this closure.

Motorists traveling in the city of Santee on State Route 67 Thursday night, will also be detoured to Magnolia Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to Caltrans.

Motorists heading southbound on SR-67 will exit the freeway at Woodside Avenue and follow the detour to Magnolia Avenue, then re-enter the freeway from Bradley Avenue. The reverse detour will be in place for motorists traveling northbound.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the two construction zones.
