UPDATED: 8:48 am PST November 20, 2008

Authorities Thursday investigated the death of a 67-year-old Oceanside woman whose body was found one day after she was attacked at work during a robbery.

Barbara Ann Novelich lived aboard a boat docked in Oceanside Harbor and was found lying dead in her bed late Monday morning after a neighbor asked police to conduct a welfare check, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office reported.

Novelich worked at Tamarack Beach Resort in Carlsbad as a desk clerk and was working early Sunday morning when the upscale establishment was robbed, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The robber entered a back office where Novelich was working around 4:10 a.m. Sunday, and punched her in the face and forced her to the ground before demanding money, Carlsbad police said.

The robber then demanded Novelich's car keys and fled in her 1998 Saturn SLR2, according to police.

Novelich was treated at a local hospital following the robbery but not admitted, the medical examiner's office reported.
